I will try to keep this review spoiler free for Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, if you haven’t seen it – what are you playing at? Get out there and see it, it’s great fun!
However, this film made me a tiny bit worried about the future Marvel films, all due to one reason/ word: Set up.
As I just said, I liked Age of Ultron. Loved it, even. It’s more of what we wanted from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it introduces some new ideas and characters, and directly makes the core Avengers aware of the upcoming arc they’ve been teasing for Avengers: Infinity War. However, there was just something about the film that made me a tiny bit disappointed. I’m not sure if I’m the only one that feels this way — and it could be easily written off as just being irritated that the next Avengers film isn’t for 3 years or so. Ant Man, releasing this summer, will be the first solo Marvel movie we’ve had in a while that is introducing a totally new hero to the Universe, and Black Panther is releasing around the same time next year. Thankfully, Phase Three of the MCU seems to contain a lot of new characters, such as Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and even an MCU Spiderman (which I am way too excited for) to name a few. I guess we just have to hope the flying man in a can and Mr Stars-and-stripes don’t get too boring by then!
